I’ve had my book idea for a month now, and the great news is – I still like it 🙃
Yessssssss.
Delighted with meself.
I’ve come to learn though, that an idea’s incubation time, is almost as important as the idea itself.
And it’s taken me so long to truly understand that – probably because it goes against every fibre of my over-achieving, productivity-focused conditioning of 43 years!
I mean, stopping? Not doing ANYTHING with it? You sure?!
Yup.
Allowing my idea to sit on ice, by herself for a while (yes, she’s a her), has allowed me to 1) test my commitment to her, 2) grow fonder of her and 3) ruminate on how she’s going to best be brought to life.
And it’s weird that absence has made my feelings grow fonder, when the main reason I put her on ice in the first place was because I went off in a huff with her 😂 (AKA: a creative block).
ENTER: Le creative block
The block was born in me just having TOO BIG a story to tell to be honest.
